ISOMERISED HOP PELLETS
Purpose More efficient provision of bitterness by replacement of hops, pellets or extract in the kettle.
Composition Milled hops compressed into cylindrical pellets of 6mm dia., heated in the presence of magnesium oxide to isomerise the alpha-acids. Isomerised Hop Pellets reflect the aroma potential of the hops from which they are made. See Hop Variety Data Sheets on our website.
Use As a replacement of cone hops or Pellets Type 90 in the kettle. Expect an improvement of approximately 50% in utilisation over that of cone hops or pellets. Because the alpha-acids are already isomerised, high bitterness utilisation will be achieved almost irrespective of the time of addition, allowing flexibility in the control of hop aroma.
Packaging Sealed under vacuum or inert gas in food grade, metallised, laminated pouches in cardboard cartons. Normal nett weight is 20kg.
Storage Isomerised Hop Pellets retain their bittering potential for up to a year if stored at 25°C or less but store at 5°C or less to minimise loss of aroma. Once opened, packs should be used as quickly as possible.
