HOP OIL EMULSION
Purpose For convenient and consistent provision of hop aroma to beer post fermentation.
Composition Emulsion made from Molecular Distilled Hop Oil, containing essential oil of hop and a small amount of hop resin in aqueous emulsion with food grade emulsifiers. Oil content is standardised to 2,500ppm (0.25%) by volume.
The emulsions convey the characteristic aroma and flavour of the hops from which they are prepared. See the Hop Variety data Sheets on our website. Emulsion made from Steam Distilled Hop Oil, containing essential oil of hop in aqueous emulsion with food grade emulsifiers. Oil content is standardised either to 1,000ppm (0.1%) or 10,000ppm (1.0%) by volume and the emulsion is suitable for use in light-stable beers.
Use An amount of emulsion corresponding to 1 to 2 ppm oil is preferably metered into the beer stream before or after conditioning but before final filtration. Alternatively, the emulsion may be added directly to the cask during filling and before the addition of finings.
Packaging Normally in sterile 22.5, 40 or 50 litre stainless steel kegs or 25 litre polydrums. Smaller packages are available.
Storage Store in unopened containers. For prolonged storage (up to 6 months) we recommend cold storage at 3° to 6°C. Partly used containers should not be stored owing to the risk that sterility may be compromised.
